Advice for Reporting

Take photographs or videos of the damage including a general view of the building.

If safe to do so, take mitigating measures such as emergency temporary repairs. Keep receipts/invoices

Do not remove or dispose of evidence. Major damage claims will likely be inspected by an Insurer or Loss Adjuster. They need to assess the damage

During a claim surge there can be a delay in the loss adjusters inspecting all the damaged properties. They will get to you as soon as possible. We will intimate your claim to your Insurer and you will hear from the loss adjuster shortly.

Animal welfare comes first! You have a business to run and livestock to care for. Please mitigate your claim. If your policy has business interruption cover you may be covered for increased costs such as renting a building. Make enquiries and find out costs prior to the loss adjusters visit if possible.

Obtain detailed written repair quotes from your contractors. Insurers have to validate costs so the more detailed the quote, the quicker the costs may be agreed.

Do not claim for pre-existing damage, or buildings in poor condition. This can have a detrimental effect on the success of the whole claim and may affect your policy

Please consider whether to make a small value claim. These claims can increase your premium over standard inflationary increases at next renewal
